DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Mission

To encourage the students to study the past in order to understand how the past has enriched the present. At present, the department has four committed faculty members with specialization in different area of the subject.

Vision

The Department of History seek to build its students the skills, employability and intellectual curiosity about the past and its legacies through teaching.

The Department of History was established since the inception of the college in the year 2000. History as a subject continued as one of the elective subjects in the Pass course till 2015. The BA History honours course was started with an introduction of the semester system by the affiliating university (North Eastern Hill University, Shillong) in the year 2015. Many students of this institution have been awarded BA Honours in History degree by the affiliating university.

At present, the department has four committed faculty members with specializations in different areas of the subject.
